There’s a lot of websites out there, so thanks for visiting this one. I’m McLane—A New York born and based designer with nearly a decade of in-house and agency experience combined. I consider myself a Product Designer with a heavy emphasis on creative direction, visual design, and craft.
In 2022, I joined Airbnb as Staff Experience Designer on the Workshop team, a sector of the design org focused on short and long-term innovation via new product areas, launches, strategic initiatives, and creative vision.
From 2015–22, I was proud to be a member of the design team at Squarespace. During that time, I worked on a bit of everything across the Product, Web, and Creative departments, including several award-winning brand campaigns, a new version of Squarespace’s core website builder, hundreds of website templates, and many growth-related initiatives. From 2019–22, I was Design Lead then Manager on the Growth org, where I oversaw the design direction and product strategy of squarespace.com in its entirety—while managing and mentoring a team of talented designers.
Before landing in tech, I cut my teeth agency side at spots including McCann NY and Droga5. Outside of my full time work, I teach Interaction Design at the School of Visual Arts in New York, where I introduce students to the fundamentals of digital product/web design. I’ve also enjoyed coaching aspiring designers through a mentorship platform called RookieUp. And I run a freelance web design practice on the side to pay for increasing gas and Starbucks prices.
